East Asia if China was a capitalist democracy

This is purely fictional, I don't want to upset anyone.
This is how East Asia whould look if China was never communist.
During the Chinese Civil War (1927-1949) General Chiang Kai-shek joined forces along with Mongolia and Tibet by promising them independence if the win the war. The general became less dictatorial, punished the incompetent and corrupt elites and started reforms, regaining the trust of the Chinese people.
1949 - The war is over with victory over the communists. Chiang Kai-shek is named Generalissimo, spares the lives of Mao and sends all that are with him and all that are communists, socialists and pro-soviet on the island of Taiwan.
1950 - Tibet becomes an independent state and Inner Mongolia unites with the Mongolian People's Republic.
In the same year the Korean War begins and China enters the war.
1953 - The Korean War ends with the fall of North Korea. Kim Il Sung and his generals are arrested and trialed for war crimes.
Korea is united.
1955 - China enters the Second Indochina War.
1956 - After Nikita Kruschevs Secret Speech in which he denounces Joseph Stalin, an anti-communist upraise starts in Mongolia. With the help of China, the communist regime is removed, thus Mongolia becoming democratic.
1962 - After the coup d'état in Burma, China intervenes and crushes the communist guerrillas.
1970 - US and France forces withdraw from Indochina. Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia become independent democracies.
Communists leaders from the three states are trialed.
China begins spreading its sphere of influence in Africa.
1975 - Chiang Kai-shek dies. The entire East Asia mourns the leader. Korea and south east asia countries that were freed from communism by China, declare national mourning as respect. China becomes more democratic, and the first presidential election take place.
1980 - China surpasses Japan and becomes the 3rd world economy after 2nd USSR and 1st USA.
1991 - As USSR crumbled, China becomes 2nd world power. Its sphere of influence grows in Central Asia and spreads till Eastern Europe.
1999 - China and USA are equal as economic powers.
2000 - China surpasses USA as hyper power, China celebrates and declares the beginning of the Chinese Century.
